At ground level, it poses a chemical risk in office environments due to emissions from printing and reprographic equipment, ionizers, and the infiltration of tropospheric ozone from the outside. Its presence in enclosed spaces is directly related to Sick Building Syndrome (SBS), whose prevalence can affect up to 30% of office buildings.

Objective: To methodically review the sources of O3 exposure in offices, the current environmental limit values in Spain and internationally, and the health effects described in the scientific literature of the last ten years (2015-2025).

Materials and Methods: A narrative literature review was conducted using a systematic search of PubMed/MEDLINE, Scopus, and Web of Science (2015-2025) with the terms: ozone, indoor, office occupational exposure, health effects, and the operators OR and AND. Observational epidemiological studies, clinical trials, systematic reviews, and normative documents from national and international organizations were included.

Results: Laser printers with corona discharge technology are the main indoor source of O3 in offices, with a median concentration of 9.04μg/m³ and an indoor/outdoor ratio of 0.29. The INSST (LEP 2026) establishes a TLV-TWA of 0.10 ppm for light work and a TLV-EC of 0.20 ppm. Values comparable to those of the ACGIH but more stringent than those of OSHA for this level of exertion. Chronic exposure is associated with bronchial inflammation, emphysema, an increased risk of Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome (ARDS), and systemic oxidative damage.

Conclusions: Ozone is an increasingly relevant indoor pollutant in office environments.
