Rev Asoc Esp Espec Med Trab 2026; 35(2):209-218<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Acceso al PDF: <div class=\"button_wrapper \"><a  href=\"https:\/\/www.aeemt.org\/Revista_AEEMT\/VOL_35_N02_2026_JUN\/Revision_1.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" title=\"Repensar la prevenci\u00f3n de lesiones y enfermedades laborales: Una mirada integral a los trabajadores expuestos al calor ambiental en espacios abiertos\" class=\"button_  default medium\"><strong>PDF del Art\u00edculo<\/strong><\/a><\/div>\n<p><strong>RESUMEN.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Introducci\u00f3n:<\/strong> La exposici\u00f3n al calor ambiental en espacios abiertos representa un riesgo creciente para la salud y el desempe\u00f1o de los trabajadores, especialmente en contextos de cambio clim\u00e1tico y actividades al aire libre.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Objetivo:<\/strong> Analizar los factores de riesgo por exposici\u00f3n ocupacional al calor frente al cambio clim\u00e1tico, estableciendo lineamientos preventivos fundamentados en m\u00e9tricas internacionales.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Material y M\u00e9todos:<\/strong> Se realiz\u00f3 una revisi\u00f3n sistem\u00e1tica exploratoria en ScienceDirect, PubMed (MEDLINE) y Scopus (2019-2024). Mediante descriptores como \u201cestr\u00e9s t\u00e9rmico\u201d y \u201cexposici\u00f3n ocupacional\u201d, se seleccionaron estudios enfocados en trabajadores que ejecutan su actividad a cielo abierto, excluyendo aquellos que no hacen referencia a Seguridad y Salud en el Trabajo SST.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Resultados:<\/strong> Omitir mediciones estandarizadas como el \u00edndice WBGT y los l\u00edmites ACGIH invisibiliza el riesgo real, exacerbando la incidencia de patolog\u00edas agudas y cr\u00f3nicas (renales y cardiovasculares) afectando desproporcionadamente a sectores cr\u00edticos como la construcci\u00f3n y la agricultura.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Conclusiones:<\/strong> Es imperativo integrar la norma ISO 7243:2017, y dise\u00f1ar reg\u00edmenes de trabajo-descanso a tolerancia de acuerdo con la percepci\u00f3n de estr\u00e9s t\u00e9rmico y el monitoreo continuo de las condiciones de salud. Lo anterior para garantizar entornos laborales seguros adaptativos y sostenibles.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Title: <\/strong><strong>RETHINKING THE PREVENTION OF OCCUPATIONAL INJURIES AND ILLNESSES: A COMPREHENSIVE LOOK AT WORKERS EXPOSED TO AMBIENT HEAT IN OUTDOOR SPACES<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong style=\"text-align: justify;\">Abstract:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Introduction:<\/strong> Exposure to ambient heat in open spaces represents a growing risk to the health and performance of workers, especially in contexts of climate change and outdoor activities.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Objective:<\/strong> To analyze the risk factors for occupational exposure to heat in the face of climate change, establishing preventive guidelines based on international metrics.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Material and Methods:<\/strong> An exploratory systematic review was conducted in ScienceDirect, PubMed (MEDLINE), and Scopus (2019-2024). Using descriptors such as \u201cthermal stress\u201d and \u201coccupational exposure,\u201d studies focused on workers performing their activity outdoors were selected, excluding those that did not refer to Occupational Safety and Health (OSH).<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Results:<\/strong> Omitting standardized measurements such as the WBGT index and ACGIH limits obscures the real risk, exacerbating the incidence of acute and chronic pathologies (renal and cardiovascular) disproportionately affecting critical sectors such as construction and agriculture.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Conclusions:<\/strong> It is imperative to integrate ISO 7243:2017 and design work-rest schedules based on heat stress perception and continuous monitoring of health conditions.
